FAQHow do I contact the author?Linda Suzane How do I find out more information about the author or the stories? You can check out my other websites. How did you come up with the name Darkhour? There has been quite an evolution of names. Originally I tried to tie all the stories together by the title, using the word Bloody, Bloody Captivity, Bloody Freedom, etc. I called the Vampire organization, California House. Later I came up with the term Midnight Blood. I started a domain called Midnight Blood. When I was doing the final revisions of Captivity, I did some rethinking of the structure of the Vampires and came up with the idea of a corporation. I wanted something vampiric, but it had to be acceptable to the general public. Midnight Blood didn't fit, neither did California House. After playing with many different ideas I finally settled on the Darkhour Corporation and thus the Darkhour Vampires. My editor suggested dropping Bloody from the title since it made for such a long title. How do your vampires differ from Anne Rice's vampires?Biggest difference, no Lestat. Although I've read Anne Rice, I consciously choose not to model my vampires after hers, or in fact any other vampire author. While the series was being created, I deliberately did not read any other vampire novels because I didn't want to be influenced. Darkhour Vampires are not the typical vampires, they aren't cursed nor are they magical creatures. They can't change into bats or mist. They can't fly. They aren't hurt by holy objects, unless they believe they will be. They are not immortal. They don't need to sleep in a coffin or their home soil. Are your vampires based on any role playing game? No. They are entirely my own creations, any similarities to role playing games or to other vampires, is simply coincidence. I've never played a role playing game. I've always thought it would be interesting to be involved with that kind of game, but I've never had anyone to play with. |
